COVID-19 And Your Mental Health

There is an overlooked medical problem with the COVID-19 virus and that's mental health.

With all the news circulating about the virus, it's difficult to scroll through your phone without seeing information about COVID-19.

While it is normal to feel anxious during these unprecedented times, there are some steps that you can take to safeguard your mental health.

Avoid information overload

  • Limit the amount of information you read about COVID-19, and more importantly, make sure that the information comes from a reliable source.

Keep in touch

  • Stay in touch with family and friends, virtually. Texting, calling, video messaging are all great ways to stay in touch.

Get enough sleep

  • Make sleep a priority. You might be off work or working from home, but you should still set a bedtime.

Eat healthy foods

Relax

  • Engage in activities you enjoy. Take some "me time" to unwind.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis call Crisis Services Canada 1-888-737-4668 or if you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.
