Corner Brook Santa Claus Parade Takes Place Today

The City of Corner Brook and the Kinsmen Club will host a modified version of the Corner Brook Santa Claus Parade today.

Residents will drive vehicles through a special display in the downtown area.

It will be complemented by a special show of lights and art. The theme will be “Traditional Stories”, with local groups taking ownership of a story book cover which they will decorate and exhibit for the public to enjoy. The City will also decorate with lights and other displays.

West Street will close to motor-vehicle traffic from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday the 12th in order to allow groups to safely set up their displays. The street will be open to pedestrian traffic until 4:00 p.m. with parking access via Park Street and Main Street. We encourage residents to shop and eat at local businesses this holiday season, especially on the 12th.

Access to the Parade will only be allowed through the left lane of Park Street. The right lane of Park Street will be open to through-traffic. The Main Street/ Mill Road/ Brook Street intersection will become a 4-way stop to improve flow. The speed limit on West Street will be 5km/h. West Valley Road will flow into Central Street only. This measure is in place to ensure that parade traffic does not block access to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital.

Hospital Hill access to West Street will be closed and diverted to Central Street via Church Street. Search and Rescue Volunteers and the RNC will direct traffic to turn right at the Main Street/ West Street intersection.
