Last week, firefighters with the City of Corner Brook were on and in the Glynmill Inn pond in Margaret Bowater Park conducting ice-rescue training exercises.
To help with their training, crews will be out a few more times so that each shift has an opportunity to practice.
They use specialized suits to stay warm and even get in the water with those they're rescuing. A harness and board are then used to pull both the firefighter and individual up onto and across the surface as quickly as possible.
