Combative impaired driver arrested in St. John's

A 69-year-old man has been charged following a report of an impaired driver on Stavanger Drive in St. John’s on Sunday afternoon.

Around 12:20 p.m., members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Operational Patrol Services responded to the report and located the suspected vehicle. Police say the driver was uncooperative with officers and was arrested for obstruction, with an additional charge of resisting arrest.

The man was also issued summary offence tickets for driving without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving while suspended, and operating a vehicle without proper equipment.

He was held in custody to appear in court on Monday morning.
