Closures Announced as Winter Storm Approaches #nlwx


Several schools are closed today as a winter storm impacts Newfoundland. Several CNA Campuses are either closed for the morning or all day and MUN are closed for the morning.


There are winter storm and snowfall warnings in effect across Newfoundland.


For areas under a winter storm warning, 20 to 35 cm, with the highest accumulations expected over the Connaigre and Burin peninsulas and in the Clarenville and Terra Nova areas is expected with winds 80 to 100 km/h today into Tuesday.


In the areas under a snowfall warning, 20 to 30 cm of snow is expected combined with wind gusts to 60 km/h today and tonight.


All City of St. John's Recreation facilities has a delayed opening. In Mount Pearl, all City facilities, including City Hall and the Summit Centre will also have a delayed opening.


Metrobus is operating this morning.


Marine Atlantic is not operating this morning and indicates that the crossings scheduled for tonight could be cancelled.
