Close to 10,000 without power in St. John's

Newfoundland Power is reporting 9,288 customers are without power in the St. John's metro area as thunderstorms push across the region.

The cause of the outages remains under investigation but thunderstorms pushed across the northern Avalon this evening.

A few hours ago there were multiple reports of power flicking.

No estimated restoration time has been provided yet.

Thunderstorms have since moved offshore.
