Celebration of life service held in Port de Grave for John Efford

On Saturday a celebration of life service was held at the Port de Grave Pentecostal Tabernacle for John Efford.

Today a Flotilla will leave the Port de Grave Harbour at 2:00 pm and proceed to Green's Point.

From there the family will lay a wreath in the water and scatter the askes of Efford as per his wishes.

Efford revealed in 2019 that he had been battling Alzheimer's disease for two years.

He died on January 2, 2022, at Carbonear General Hospital, four days shy of his 78th birthday.

Efford represented the district of Port de Grave from 1985 to 2001 in the House of Assembly and served in several cabinet roles. He was elected to the House of Commons in 2002 and served until 2006 he was also the federal Minister of Natural Resources.
