Carbonear Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving After Accident #nltraffic

A 25-year-old woman from Carbonear has been arrested by police, following an investigation into a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision that happened in the community.

On Tuesday afternoon RCMP received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Captain Franks Lane.

Police determined that the car had crashed into a concrete retaining wall.

The driver then attempted to leave the scene, placing the vehicle in reverse, and struck a garbage box. She was transported via ambulance to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police located open cannabis within the vehicle.

Officers observed signs of impairment and once the driver was released from medical treatment, she was taken into custody for impaired driving.

After a breath sample was collected it was determined that she was above the legal limit.

She was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving. The woman was issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension, was ticketed for having open cannabis in her vehicle and the car was seized and impounded for thirty days.
