Carbonear adopts budget with drop in mil rates

The Town of Carbonear released its 2026 budget on Tuesday. The town presented a balanced budget of $9,221,719.

Although property values increased, the town has decreased the mil rate by 0.25 mils for both residential and commercial structures. The residential rate is now at 6.5 mils while the commercial rate sits at 8.75 mils.

Transportation services is the department with the largest budget at $2,592,379.

The budget was passed unanimously.
