Canadians being evacuated from Sudan


As the security situation continues to deteriorate in Sudan, the Canadian Forces have conducted two evacuation flights to get Canadians and other foreign nationals out of the country.


Global Affairs Canada has more than 110 surge capacity responders at the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa. These responders will answer calls and emails from Canadians in Sudan seeking assistance and advice.


There are 1,703 Canadians registered with Global Affairs Canada as being in Sudan, of which 573 have requested assistance in departing the country.


The Canada Border Services Agency has issued a temporary halt on removals to Sudan.
