Registration is now open for a Bronze Medallion course aimed at youth taking the first step toward lifeguard certification.
The program, which teaches water rescue skills including judgement, knowledge, fitness and practical rescue techniques, will be held at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre on Saturdays from April 4 to April 25, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Participants must be at least 13 years old. Those who successfully complete the course will receive Bronze Medallion certification along with Emergency First Aid training.
The course costs $175 with the Canadian Lifesaving Manual or $150 without it. Officials say the certification is a required step before moving on to the Bronze Cross level for lifeguarding.
