Bridge Repairs Beginning on TCH & Pitts Memorial Drive #nltraffic

Work to repair bridges on the Trans-Canada Highway, east of St. John’s, and on Pitts Memorial Drive is beginning this week.

There will be some traffic delays in the area since the highways will be reduced to one lane near the bridges due to heavy equipment and crews working in the area.

Work on Pitts Memorial Highway will take place on two bridges, one each in the eastbound and westbound lanes, between the highway’s interchange with the Robert E. Howlett Highway and the overpass above Bay Bulls Road.

Work on the Trans-Canada Highway will take place on one bridge in the westbound lanes approximately four kilometres east of the Foxtrap Access Road.

Work on all three bridges includes repairs to concrete and expansion joints and paving. The department anticipates this project being completed by early September.
