Black Bear Licences Now Available

The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture has announced that licence applications for the Labrador and Island black bear hunts are now available.

Licences are valid for both the 2021 spring and fall hunts. That is a change from past years for Labrador hunters. Previously, black bear licences issued for Labrador were valid from the fall of one calendar year to the spring of the next calendar year.

In Labrador, the 2021 spring black bear hunt is scheduled for April 1 to July 13, while the fall hunt begins August 10 and ends November 30. On the Island, the spring hunt is set for May 1 to July 15, while the fall hunt opens September 11 and closes November 14.

Hunters can apply for a black bear licence online or obtain a licence application from the department’s website.
