Bay Roberts RCMP Seizes Two ATV's #nltraffic
The RCMP in Bay Roberts seized two all-terrain vehicles over the Easter Weekend following traffic violations.
On April 12, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a 22-year-old Shearstown man, who was not wearing a helmet, was observed by an officer in an unmarked patrol vehicle driving his ATV on the main road. A traffic stop was conducted and the man was charged for a number of traffic offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Motorized Snow Vehicles and All Terrain Vehicles Act. The ATV was seized and impounded for 30 days.
On April 13, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Bay Roberts RCMP responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a car and an ATV in the community of Brigus. The operator of the ATV, a 16-year-old boy, drove down route 60 with no headlights on in the dark. A car traveling in the opposite direction did not see the ATV and made a legal left turn onto a parking lot and collided with the ATV. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and the ATV operator was thrown from the ATV. Luckily, no serious injuries occurred. The operator of the ATV was charged with a number of offences under the Highway Traffic Act and Motorized Snow Vehicles and All Terrain Vehicles Act. The ATV was seized and impounded for 30 days.
