Avalon Motorcycle Ride For Dad takes place today
The Avalon Motorcycle Ride For Dad takes place today.
Registration is from 8:30 to 9:30 am with the kickstand up at 10 am. The starting location is at the Newfoundland Power building on Kenmount Road in St. John's.
Since 2007 the annual event has raised over $1.8 million dollars for the fight against prostate cancer.
Proceeds from the event have been invested in prostate cancer research and life-saving awareness campaigns about the disease and the importance of early detection.
The Canadian Cancer Society says that prostate cancer is the "most common cancer among Canadian men" with the exception of non-melanoma skin cancers. It is the third leading cause of death from cancer in men in Canada. On average, 13 Canadian men will die from prostate cancer every day.
