One person was taken to hospital in the east end of St. John’s on Tuesday following a two-vehicle collision.

Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to the intersection of Portugal Cove Road and Major’s Path for a two-vehicle collision. When crews arrived, both southbound lanes were closed due to both vehicles being in the lanes.

Two people were treated on scene. At least one of them were transported to hospital by NLHS Paramedics for what appeared to be a head injury.

Both vehicles, a taxi cab and an SUV, sustained moderate to significant damage as a result of the collision. Traffic in the area was slowed as crews worked to clear the scene.
