Andrew Furey Wins Liberal Leadership Race #nlpoli

The next premier of Newfoundland and Labrador has been announced.

Andrew Furey will take over as leader of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador and as a result Premier.

By trade, Furey is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon and educator with Memorial University’s School of Medicine. He also holds a Diploma in Organizational Leadership from Oxford University.

Dr. Furey has a wife, Allison, and their children, Maggie, Rachael, and Mark.

Both Furey and John Abbott were vying for the job.

Liberal Party President John Allen announced the results. John Abbott got 13,557 votes and Andrew Furey got 26,443 votes.
