Andrew Furey Wins By-Election #nlpoli

Premier Andrew Furey easily won the by-election in the district of Humber - Gros Morne on Tuesday night.

As soon as the first polls were reported Furey had a marginal lead over his opponents.

All registered parties ran candidates in the election. Graham Downey-Sutton was on the ballot for the New Democratic Party, Progressive Conservative Mike Goosney and NL Alliance Leader Graydon Pelley were also seeking a win.

The district was left vacant when Dwight Ball resigned.

The district has only existed since 2015 and has been held by former Premier Dwight Ball.

Before 2015, the area was split into the district of St. Barbe and Humber Valley. Both of these districts have typically switched between the Liberal and Progressive Conservative parties in past elections.
