56-unit apartment building in Corner Brook evacuated after fire

At 11:05 pm on Monday night, the Corner Brook Fire Department and the RNC responded to a fire alarm on Beothuk Crescent.
The building manager had discovered smoke in the main electrical room of the 56-unit apartment building. The fire department discovered an area of concern and it was determined that the power supply to the building would need to be cut in order to rectify the issues.
As a result, all tenants were evacuated as a result.
Those that didn’t have anywhere to stay in the immediate area were relocated to the Salvation Army Citadel. The Red Cross assisted all displaced persons.
The RNC says the fire does not appear suspicious in nature. There were no injuries or significant property damage.
