53 year old male charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats following downtown incident, Sunday afternoon

At approximately 1:45 p.m. Officers with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) responded to a report of an assault in progress in the area of Springdale Street. Upon arrival, police located the 53 year old male suspect and placed him under arrest. Through the course of the investigation, the male was charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, resisting arrest and

breach of court order.

Police conveyed the male to the city lockup where is awaiting provincial court the following day.
