5 New Cases of COVID-19 & First Vaccine Given in NL

There are 5 new cases of COVID-19 in the province today. Four are in the Eastern Health region and one is in Central Health. All are travel related.
There are 23 active cases and 68,325 people have been tested.
Earlier today the first person in the province received the COVID-19 vaccine. Registered public health nurse Ellen Foley-Vick who worked on the frontlines since the beginning of the pandemic was the first person to receive the vaccine in the province.
Healthcare workers will be the first to get the vaccines.
Gander, Corner Brook, Labrador City Wabush and Happy Valley-Goose Bay are getting freezers capable of storing and administering the vaccine.
52 percent of people in the province have received the flu vaccine.
