3 Motor Vehicle Collision in Trinity Conception Over the Weekend

RCMP officers in Bay Roberts and Harbour Grace responded to three motor-vehicle crashes over the weekend that resulted in the arrest of three drivers for impaired driving.

On January 23, 2021, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Bay Roberts RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Shearstown Road in Shearstown. Officers attended the scene and found that one driver sustained minor injuries, while the other driver, a 38-year-old Shearstown man, fled the scene prior to police arrival. He was located a short time later and was arrested for drug-impaired driving. The man was transported to the detachment and completed a drug influence evaluation. Officers await the results of the testing to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Bay Roberts RCMP received a report that a Chevrolet Cobalt rear-ended another vehicle in the lineup of a local drive-thru. The driver of the Cobalt, a 32-year-old Marystown man, departed the scene prior to the incident being reported to police. Moments later, police received a call of the same Cobalt, which was now off the roadway, stuck in a snowbank near the graveyard. Police responded and the driver was arrested for drug-impaired driving. He was provided a blood demand and was transported to hospital where a sample of his blood was collected for analysis. Officers await the results of the blood sample to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate.

On January 24, 2021, shortly after 1:30 p.m., Harbour Grace RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle that collided with a garage in Old Perlican.
