RCMP Dispatched to Injured Snowmobiler on Random Island

On Monday night a 36-year-old man was rescued following a snowmobile collision in a remote area of Random Island.

Clarenville RCMP was dispatched to a single-vehicle collision involving a snowmobile on a pond near Deer Harbour, a remote area accessible only by snowmobile.

Police contacted the Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue team out of Clarenville, who attended the scene on a snowmobile with a police officer and paramedics from Eastern Health.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre arranged the use of a helicopter from Cougar Helicopters. All rescue personnel arrived on the scene at approximately the same time.

The man was airlifted to St. John’s for medical treatment with unknown injuries.
