RCMP Nabs Two Impaired Drivers in Four Days #nltraffic

Over the course of four days the RCMP removed two impaired drivers from the roadway.

On January 2 a traffic stop resulted in a 51-year-old Bell Island woman being arrested for drug impaired driving.

She was brought to the detachment where she underwent a drug recognition evaluation. The investigation is continuing and charges of drug impaired driving are expected.

Her driver's license was suspended and her vehicle was impounded.

On January 6, Traffic Services responded to a complaint of a vehicle in a ditch in the community of Holyrood.

Police officers responded and arrested a 32-year-old man from Ontario for impaired driving.

The man provided breath samples more than three times the legal limit. Open alcohol was observed in his vehicle.

His driver's license was suspended and his vehicle was impounded. He was released and will appear in court on March 20, 2020.
