RCMP Stop Driver Going 182 on TCH #nltraffic

RCMP in Gander were conducting radar enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Gander on January 2.
Police observed a vehicle travelling at an extremely high rate of speed in the posted 100 km/h speed zone.
Radar readings determined the vehicle was travelling at speeds as high as 182 km/h.
A traffic stop was conducted and the 17-year-old novice driver, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for speeding more than 51 km/h above the posted speed limit.
Police seized his driver’s licence and impounded the vehicle.
Consequences for a first offence of excessive speeding include a fine of $520.00, on-the-spot three-day impoundment of a vehicle and a suspension of a person's driver’s licence.
