Time Has Run Out for Little Bay Islands

Today is the last day of existence for Little Bay Islands.

The MV Hazel McIsaac will depart the town for the last time today at 5:00 pm bringing all but two of the remaining residents elsewhere.

The diesel power plant will also cease operations today.

In February 2019, the permanent residents voted to be relocated and nearly all of the 55 residents departed by late this month.

Property owners who were permanent residents were paid at least $250,000 in compensation for property they were leaving behind.
