Poppy Thieves Arrested

RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor conducted a traffic stop on a suspected impaired driver last weekend and evidence was obtained that lead to the arrest of the driver, a 31-year-old man, and the passenger, a 30-year-old woman, in relation to several reported thefts of poppy donation cans from the Grand Falls-Windsor region.

The investigation also led to other theft-related charges from the local area.

Officers read a blood demand to the 31-year-old driver and he was taken to hospital where he provided a sample of his blood for analysis of drug impaired driving. He was released from custody and is set to attend court on February 12, 2020, in Grand Falls-Windsor for the theft-related charges. The investigation into drug impaired driving is continuing.

The 30-year-old woman, who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from the RNC in St. John’s, was held in custody. She appeared in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court on November 25, 2019, and was released on court ordered conditions.
