RCMP Officer to go to Trial on Obstruction Charges

RCMP Sergeant Brent Hillier will go on trial for allegedly obstructing justice by letting his son leave the scene of a car crash in Upper Island Cove.

His son Brent Hillier Jr. was convicted of dangerous driving in July after he crashed his car into a house.

His father was the first officer to attend the scene and he allegedly allowed his son to leave the scene of the accident and tried to clear debris after he went home and changed out of his uniform.

Hillier has been suspended with pay by the force.
