2019 Wildfire Season Down From Last Year

This year there were 97 wildfires across the province, burning a total of 322 hectares of land. In 2018, 132 fires burned 396 hectares.

This number is lower than the 10 year average of 114.

There were 63 fires in eastern Newfoundland, 29 in western Newfoundland, and 5 in Labrador.
