Charges Laid Two People Following Animal Cruelty Investigation


RCMP in Channel-Port aux Basques have laid charges against two people following an investigation into a report of the violent death of a cat that is alleged to have occurred in Port aux Basques on September 10.

The complaint was received by police on September 14, 2019.

Fifty-one-year-old Peter Rossiter of O’Regan’s has been charged with one count of injuring or endangering an animal and one count of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jody Anderson of Cape Ray has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of injuring or endangering an animal and two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Both have been released from police custody and are scheduled to attend court in December, 2019.
