National Forest Week Coming Up
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are being encouraged to get outside to explore our forests and learn more about the importance of this valuable resource during National Forest Week, September 22 to 28. This year’s theme is “Canada's Forests: Diverse Outdoor Classrooms”.
National Forest Week traditionally provides an opportunity to highlight the value of Canada’s expansive forest resource, educate Canadians about our country’s forest heritage, and stresses the need to responsibly manage our forests for the future.
The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources is hosting two ‘Outdoor Classroom’ themed events during National Forest Week designed to encourage interest and participation among youth and provide a unique opportunity for students to learn more about our Newfoundland and Labrador’s forest resources in a fun-filled, interactive setting. Events are being held on Monday, September 23 at the Pasadena Forestry and Wildlife district office and on September 24 and 25 at the Wooddale Provincial Tree Nursery.
The department will also be featuring an interactive ‘Seed to Product’ booth at the Agriculture Expo being held at the Corner Brook Civic Centre from September 27 to 29.
