Black Bear Warning Issued for Snook’s Harbour and Area

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources has received several complaints over the past few days about the presence of a black bear in Snook’s Harbour and neighboring communities.

Conservation officers have set a trap to try and capture and then relocate the bear.

There are steps that you can take to avoid attracting bears, ensure proper storage and disposal of garbage, do not store garbage in outside containers until collection day, keep pets inside or under close supervision, never feed any wildlife as it creates a public safety hazard and may lead to the destruction of the animal.

A black bear should never be approached.
