Fall Festivals and Events Celebrate Agriculture Industry

Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, invites residents to celebrate Newfoundland and Labrador’s growing agriculture industry this fall by participating in upcoming Open Farm Day activities, Agriculture Expos, and local fall fairs.

Open Farm Day was on September 15. It was a chance for visitors to meet local farmers and see first-hand how they work to increase food sustainability and self-sufficiency in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Upcoming Agriculture Expos in Corner Brook September 27-29 and Grand Falls-Windsor October 18-20, provide an opportunity to talk to professionals about the expanding agriculture industry.

Representatives from the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources will also be on hand to provide information about efforts to help increase farming opportunities in the province.

Local fall fairs, such as the Humber Valley Agriculture Home/Handicraft Exhibition in Deer Lake September 20-21, are a fun way to learn about gardening, growing your own food, and raising animals.
