RNC Request Assistance in Mount Scio Fire Investigation
The RNC are asking the assistance of the public in the investigation of fires in a wooded area on Mount Scio in St. John’s.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, shortly after 1:00 pm, members of RNC responded to fires which were reported in the area of Mount Scio, North of the Health Sciences Center.
Responding officers acted in support of fire suppression efforts. There were no injuries, and once the fire was extinguished, RNC fire investigators initiated an investigation in to the cause of the fire.
The RNC fire investigators believe that the fires in the Mount Scio area on September 3rd were deliberately set. Investigators are interested in engaging the public to gain any information that may lead them in the right direction. Anyone that observed any suspicious activity or persons in the area of the trail system connecting Mount Scio and Long Pond, or the wooded area from Clinch Crescent to Mount Scio Road, is asked to contact the RNC.
