RNC Investigating Assault at Downtown Residence

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating an assault at a downtown residence.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, shortly after midnight, RNC responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the downtown area of St. John’s.

On arrival, officers located a 25 year old man inside the home who had sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing. The suspect had reportedly fled on foot prior to police arrival. The injured man was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, believed to be non-life threatening.

Responding officers searched the area with negative results in locating the suspect. However, a short time later, a man believed to have been involved in the incident was located and positively identified by investigators.

There is no perceived risk to public safety as the parties involved in this incident are believed to be known to each other. The investigation is ongoing.
