Driver Clocked at 165 km/h Stopped by RCMP #nltraffic
The RCMP were conducting radar enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway between Witless Bay Line and Holyrood Access Road.
Around 2:00 pm, officers observed a vehicle coming up behind the unmarked patrol car, traveling at an excessive speed.
Radar clocked the driver traveling at a speed of 165 km/h.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 32-year-old man from Bay Roberts, was found to be driving while suspended and operating an unregistered vehicle.
Police charged the man for speeding over 151 km/h, driving while suspended and operating an unregistered vehicle.
As the driver was previously suspended, the vehicle seizure increased from a 3 day to a 30 day impound.
The driver was also issued a 7-day driver’s licence suspension.
