Man arrested in Marystown for pointing a firearm at two youth


On Wednesday evening, RCMP on the Burin Peninsula received a report indicating a man, who was driving a vehicle, pointed what was believed to be a handgun at two youth who were riding on their bicycles in the town of Marystown.

The vehicle was described as a Black Ford Ranger truck and police were provided with a licence plate.

A 72-year-old from Marystown, was identified and a search warrant was issued for his residence.

Officers attended the residence, executed the search warrant and located a number of unsecured firearms, in addition to two handgun style airsoft pistols.

The man was arrested and released on conditions and is set to appear in court on September 18, 2019.

He faces charges of pointing a firearm, using an imitation of a firearm in the commission of an offence and unsafe storage of firearms.
