Impaired Transport Truck Driver in Accident

At approximately 11:22 a.m. on July 16, 2019, Corner Brook RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Corner Brook.

When officers arrived on scene a tractor trailer was resting on its side in the eastbound lane. Fuel was leaking from the truck and fire fighters were assessing the situation.

The driver, 50-year-old Gregory Anderson from Sydney, New Brunswick, was arrested for impaired driving and transported to Corner Brook Detachment, where a drug recognition evaluation was performed. The man was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drug. His licence was suspended and vehicle seized.

The man was held in custody and appeared in court yesterday morning where he was released on conditions.

He will be back in court on July 30, 2019.
