John Duff Given a Suspended Sentence

John Duff of Goulds was given a suspended sentence and banned from owning a pet for two years.
John Duff pleaded guilty to one count of killing an animal.
He stabbed and killed his family cat, Oreo in a kitchen sink in October of last year.
Duff argued in court that he killed the cat outside and used the kitchen sink to clean up.
Like a conditional discharge, a suspended sentence involves following conditions in a probation order for a period of one to three years.
The main difference between a conditional discharge and a suspended sentence is that an offender who gets a suspended sentence has a conviction registered against them.
