RNC Remove World War II era Mortar

Around 10:00 am on Saturday RNC responded to a report of a possible explosive found in the back yard of a residence in the East White Hills Road area.
A home owner, who had been digging in their backyard, discovered what they believed to be a World War II era mortar.
The RNC Explosive Disposal Unit responded to the call.
The object in question was subsequently removed and disposed of without incident.
A mortar is usually a simple, lightweight, man portable, muzzle-loaded weapon, consisting of a smooth-bore metal tube fixed to a base plate.
