Rain and Wind for Newfoundland Beginning Tomorrow #nlwx


A low pressure system will push across Newfoundland beginning tomorrow and will continue over the next couple of days.

Rain arrives in Newfoundland on Wednesday afternoon. Rain will continue through the weekend.

In central and western Newfoundland (specifically the Long Range Mountains) rain will mix with, or change to snow. Some areas could see 5 to 10 cm of snow, mainly the Green Bay-White Bay area.

There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Gusts up to 110 km/h will develop in the Wreckhouse area early Wednesday morning. These winds are expected to diminish below warning criteria by early Wednesday evening.

Marine Atlantic advises customers that due to impending weather conditions the following changes have been made to their schedule:

  • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1145, weather permitting.

  • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1145, weather permitting.
