The 50th Newfoundland and Labrador general election is scheduled for May 16, 2019, to elect members of the 49th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The number of seats has varied over time, from a low of twenty-seven for the first election in 1949, to a high of fifty-two during the 1980s and early 1990s. There are currently 40 seats in the house.

Since joining confederation in 1949 there have been 20 elections.

The Liberal Party has won 11 of those elections and the Progressive Conservatives/Conservatives party won 9 mandates.
