Unsettled Weather for Newfoundland Today #nlwx

A pair of lows will bring unsettled weather to Newfoundland today through Thursday.

AVALON: Freezing rain or ice pellets are likely Wednesday morning. Freezing rain will transition to rain over the southern Avalon Peninsula by noon. Power outages are possible.

SOUTH COAST: Precipitation will change to rain Wednesday morning. Inland areas will remain as freezing rain.

CENTRAL: Snow will increase in intensity Wednesday morning. Snow will likely mix with ice pellets Wednesday afternoon. 15 to 20 cm are expected by evening. Areas near Clarenville will likely remain as freezing rain. Power outages are possible.

WESTERN: A mixture of ice pellets, snow, and freezing rain is expected.

Another low comes in on Thursday. This low is expected to bring snow to all of the province. Amounts may be significant.

Marine Atlantic has warned of a potential travel disruption.

The North Sydney to Port aux Basques crossing and the Port aux Basques to North Sydney scheduled for Wednesday 11:45 am is now scheduled to depart at 4:00 am.

Crossings for Thursday may also be impacted.
