RCMP Seeking Assistance After Cross-Island Crime Spree #nltraffic
The RCMP are seeking the public's help in fining a vehicle and suspects that took a crime spree on Thursday from Whitbourne to Deer Lake.
On Thursday morning at approximately 6:15 a.m., a man entered the Orange Store gas station in Whitbourne and departed without paying for his merchandise.
The man entered into the passenger side of an older model purple Mazda car and was last seen heading west on the Trans-Canada Highway.
At approximately 9:40 a.m., Deer Lake RCMP received a report of the same described vehicle at the Western Petroleum gas station at Hampden Junction on the TCH. A man had pumped gas into the Mazda and departed without paying.
Officers from Deer Lake Detachment, and RCMP Traffic Services, made a patrol. The vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and did not stop for police.
The vehicle and occupants are believed to be in the Corner Brook/Bay of Islands area at this time. At this time, additional officers from Corner Brook Detachment as well as officers from the RNC are looking for the vehicle and occupants.
