Privacy Commissioner Launches Investigation After Stats Canada Collects Banking Info


The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has launched an investigation following a report by Global News that Statistics Canada collecting personal financial transaction information on Canadians.

Banks are being asked to provide the personal information to Stats Canada. So far financial institutions have divulged information on thousands of Canadians.

The people who have had their information collected has not been informed.
