Do We Even Need Canada Post?
There is talk that there could be a Canada Post strike. The thing that could come out of this potential strike is, "who cares" about Canada Post. The face of the matter is that the company has largely become irreverent.
UPS, Purolator and FedEx are all competitors for Canada Post when it comes to package delivery. Although to be fair Purolator is 91% owned by Canada Post.
Letter mail is way down and has been for almost a decade since advancements in technology. Most people no longer depend on the post to get their cheques since banks have made direct deposit easy and more dependable.
Rotating strikes could just send people to the competition.
That's not to say some people will not be impacted, at the end of the day some people do not have internet, nor do they have a bank account. But that number is low.
