Canada Post Employees May Begin Rotating Strikes at Midnight
Canada Post employees will begin rotating strikes at midnight.
Edmonton, Halifax, Victoria and Windsor will be the first areas that will see a disruption to postal service.
In those areas strikes will last 24 hours.
The union representing postal workers says that rotating strikes will minimize the impact of a postal disruption and that mail will still be delivered in the impacted cities.
Canada Post, however, says that in the affected cities, postal service will stop altogether.
The union wants better job security, ending forced overtime and better health and safety measures.
Canada Post continues to operate across Canada.
Canada Post says, "we remain committed to arriving at a negotiated settlement with CUPW, while making every effort to minimize the impact of any disruption on the customers we serve."
