Carbonear Teacher Killed in Veterans Memorial Highway Crash

A teacher from Carbonear is the woman killed in a collision with a school bus on the Veterans Memorial Highway on Thursday afternoon.

The 47-year-old victim was driving an SUV when it collided with a school bus. The 18-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries.

No serious injuries were sustained by the 12 children on the school bus. One child had minor injuries.

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District says that they have crisis response teams and counselling available for students and staff at Roncalli Central High, St. Francis, Carbonear Academy, and Carbonear Collegiate.

At the time of the accident the highway was closed for several hours.
