Government Reaches Tentative Collective Agreement with NAPE Correctional Officers
The Provincial Government announced it has reached a tentative collective agreement with the correctional officer bargaining unit, represented by the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE). Subject to ratification, this agreement is for a term of four years, and will expire on October 31, 2019.
The Provincial Government and NAPE, which represents approximately 250 correctional officers and approximately 20,000 public sector employees overall, worked together to reach a deal that respects both the province’s fiscal situation and the important role that correctional officers play in our province’s justice system.
If ratified, this agreement will support the sustainability of government programs and services while creating a more affordable public service.
Negotiations are ongoing with other public sector unions in the province.
