RNC to Participate in Search and Rescue Exercise

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary along with several other emergency response agencies will be conducting a “real world” search and rescue exercise.

On Thursday, October 4, 2018, the RNC along with the ROVERS, Eastern Health, St. John’s Regional Fire Department, Canadian Coast Guard, Cougar Helicopters, Universal Helicopters, and Civil Air Search & Rescue Association will be conducting a ‘real world’ training exercise involving staged emergency recuses from the water and cliffs at Cuckhold’s Cove in Quidi Vidi. This critical training allows all agencies to enhance their joint response to real emergencies as well as providing all agencies an opportunity to test and assess their personnel and equipment in a controlled environment.

The exercise will commence shortly after 9:00 a.m. and will conclude approximately 3:00 p.m. We are advising the public that both pedestrian and vehicular access to the area will be restricted while the exercise is ongoing.

Members of the media are invited to attend this training exercise.
